Losec is used by adults for short-term relief of reflux symptoms (like heartburn and acid regurgitation).

Losec contains the active ingredient omeprazole, which belongs to a group of medications known as "proton pump inhibitors." These work by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the esophagus, which can become inflamed and painful. This can lead to symptoms like a burning sensation in the chest that rises up to the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 consecutive days to achieve symptom relief.

The usual dose is 1 tablet of 20 mg or 2 tablets of 10 mg once daily for 14 days.
